Ashes to Ashes Cremations

Serving Atherton Tablelands

Direct Cremation Atherton Tablelands

Atherton, Mareeba, Malanda, Yungaburra and the wider Tablelands. We come up the range to you.

A direct cremation for a family in the Atherton Tablelands costs $1,990 + GST, the same as anywhere else we serve. It includes the transfer into our care, all paperwork and permits, the cremation, and the return of the ashes to you.

Families on the Tablelands often assume their only option is to drive down the range and organise everything in Cairns. That is not the case. We come up to you, and the whole thing can be arranged without you leaving home at a time when driving is the last thing you want to do.

We look after families in Atherton, Mareeba, Malanda, Yungaburra, Herberton, Ravenshoe, Tolga, Kuranda and the smaller communities in between. Transfers happen from private homes, from Atherton Hospital and Mareeba Hospital, and from aged care facilities across the region.

The Tablelands is a spread-out part of the world and small towns talk. That cuts both ways for a business like ours, and it is exactly why we do not upsell and do not pad an invoice. The price we tell you is the price.

What it costs in Atherton Tablelands

$1,990 + GST, covering everything listed on our pricing page. There is no travel surcharge for being outside Cairns. The only thing that can change the total is a transfer outside office hours or on a weekend, and we will tell you the exact amount before anything happens.

What happens when you call

Four steps, and we carry all of them

Most families have never done this before and have no idea where to start. That is normal. Here is the whole process, start to finish.

  1. You call, any hour

Tell Shane where your loved one is and he will take it from there. If they are in a hospital, hospice or aged care home, he speaks to the staff directly. You do not need to know what happens next.

  2. We bring them into our care

We arrange the transfer, day or night, and care for your loved one respectfully from that moment on. You are told exactly when it has happened.

  3. We handle every form

The doctor’s certificates, the permits, the registration of the death, the BDM certificate. All of it is ours to sort out, not yours.

  4. The ashes come back to you

Once the cremation is complete the ashes are returned to you personally, at no extra cost. What you do from there, and when, is entirely up to your family.

Atherton Tablelands questions

Common questions from the Atherton Tablelands

None of these are silly questions. If yours is not here, call Shane on 0461 543 517 and just ask.

Do you come up the range, or do we have to come to Cairns?

We come to you. Transfers from Atherton, Mareeba and the surrounding Tablelands towns are a normal part of what we do. The arrangements are made by phone, so nobody in your family needs to drive down the range to organise anything.

Can you collect from Atherton or Mareeba Hospital?

Yes. We transfer from Atherton Hospital, Mareeba Hospital, aged care facilities and private homes across the Tablelands. We contact the facility ourselves and arrange the release, so you are not left making those calls.

How much does a direct cremation cost in Cairns?

A direct cremation with Ashes to Ashes is $1,990 plus GST. That covers the transfer into our care, mortuary care, all permits and paperwork, an environmentally friendly coffin, the cremation itself and the return of the ashes. Transfers outside office hours may cost more, and we will tell you first.

Are you available 24 hours a day?

Yes. Someone answers the phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week, because a death does not wait for business hours. We can arrange a transfer at any hour across Cairns, Port Douglas and the Atherton Tablelands. Office hours for paperwork are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Can we still hold a memorial or service afterwards?

Yes, and many families do. A direct cremation simply separates the cremation from the service. Once the ashes are back with you, you are free to hold a memorial whenever and wherever suits your family, in your own time and without a funeral director setting the schedule.
